Ever wondered what they talk about at Real Estate conferences? Well…lucky you, I’m going to share my top 5 takeaways from eXpCON this year!

I just got back from eXpCON in Las Vegas, a premier event for top producers and team leaders at eXp Realty. This was my second time going, and I will tell you, it was amazing this year. I made great connections, learned a ton, and had a lot of fun.

Today I’m going to go through my top five takeaways from eXpCON so that you can get the benefit of my experience at the conference without having attended.

#1: AI is absolutely the future.

It felt like every seminar I went to and every speaker that I listened to had something to say about AI. It is absolutely the future.

I don’t believe it’s going to replace agents, but rather, be a tool that good agents are going to use to help make them more efficient.

Relatively speaking, AI is still very new, so this is the time to really immerse yourself in it and learn as much as you can about it, so that way you can really utilize it to benefit yourself and your business moving forward.

The other thing that I learned about AI at eXpCON is that there are actually a lot of people that I’m close with who utilize these tools to benefit their businesses. And since then, I’ve been utilizing their coaching, training, and knowledge on these AI tools to improve my own business.

#2: Networking and building relationships is more important now than it ever has been.

Especially in this crazy social media world that we live in where you can just DM someone and get all kinds of information.

It’s critical to be able to go to these events and meet people, break bread with them, shake their hands, sit across the table from them, and be able to have conversations and learn about who they are, what they like to do, how they can help your business, and how you can help their business.

Conferences like these are a phenomenal opportunity to meet people that you’ve been wanting to meet.

The caveat is that if they’re a big name, a super busy person, or very well established person at the conference, don’t expect to get much time from them. The goal when you meet someone who you’ve been wanting to meet at a conference is to shake their hand, maybe get a picture with them, and get just enough time with them that you feel like you can follow up with them and set an appointment. Because they’re not going to give you their undivided attention. These conferences are crazy and they’re getting pulled every which way.

Your goal is to not skip steps. Don’t expect that they’re going to be giving you tons of time. Just meet them and then follow up with them afterwards.

It’s similar to how we talk about building relationships with buyers and sellers — you don’t skip steps. So if you’re hoping to meet someone that’s a big name at one of these conferences, have low expectations when you meet them when it comes to the amount of time you’re going to get.

Now if they do invite you to something, or maybe you do get a little more time than you were expecting, take it and run with it. If they invite you to a dinner and you already had dinner planned — cancel the dinner plans and go to dinner with that person. Utilize all the time you can get, but don’t abuse it.

#3: You need to be aligned with the right people for the best access and the best knowledge.

Being aligned with the right people, having the right sponsor, networking with the best people at these conferences is going to get you into rooms that you might not have ever expected to be in, or even into some rooms that you’re not even allowed to be in.

I personally was able to get some invites to very intimate and private dinners with some of the top agents at eXp. One night, I got invited to a dinner where I sat next to an agent that runs one of the top five teams at eXp, and had two hours of relatively undivided attention from this guy. It’s invaluable time that you can get, and that was right before then going with him and a few other people from this dinner to a private event that is only for the top of the top agents at eXp.

#4: It’s important to have a little fun when you’re at these conferences.

eXpCON is in Las Vegas, so why not have a little fun and sneak out one morning to go check off a bucket list item?

I’ve always wanted to race some supercars, so we found a place called Speed Vegas where I took a Ferrari 488 GTB around the track for 10 laps. It was the best adrenaline rushes that I had all week. It was truly an unforgettable experience and added a nice little flare to the week.

So when you go to these conferences, make sure you have some fun too.

#5: You have to go to these conferences.

If I haven’t convinced you of why these conferences are not only fun but actually super important to attend, I would love for you to drop a comment on the YouTube or Instagram video and tell me why you think you shouldn’t be going to these conferences.

Be sure to subscribe to my new videos while you’re here. I’ll see you next week, and hopefully, I’ll see you at the next eXpCON.
